Support Over the Holidays: Help, Connection and Community in Derbyshire
The festive period can be a time of warmth, celebration and togetherness — but for many people it can also feel isolating, overwhelming, or difficult. At Derbyshire Voluntary Action (DVA), we want people across Derbyshire to know that support is still available over the holidays.
While our offices and the Feeling Connected Hub will be closed over Christmas and New Year, reopening on 5 January 2026, there are a wide range of services, activities and helplines available right now.
Help When You Need It Most
Our holiday support guide brings together trusted, confidential helplines offering 24/7 support for mental health, emotional wellbeing, children and young people, domestic abuse, older people, LGBTQ+ communities and more. If you or someone you care about needs support, help is always within reach.
Free Local Activities & Warm Spaces
Across Derbyshire, local organisations and VCFSE partners are running free holiday activities, including Christmas Day community meals, youth hubs, wellbeing groups and warm, welcoming spaces offering company, advice and support.
These spaces provide more than warmth — they offer connection, kindness and reassurance during a time when it’s most needed.
Looking Ahead
DVA will reopen on 5 January 2026, continuing our work to support communities, champion the VCFSE, and help people feel connected and supported all year round.
Please take a moment to share our holiday support information — it could make a real difference to someone’s Christmas.
You are not alone. Help is available.
