FutureMinds Collective
Bringing young people, organisations and services together to help every child and young person in Derbyshire get the right help at the right time.
Youth voice is at the heart of everything we do — creating opportunities for children and young people to be heard, influence change and help shape the support designed for them.
Better Support Starts With Listening
Across Derbyshire, organisations and services are doing fantastic work to support children and young people. FutureMinds Collective creates a space to bring that work together, build stronger connections and understand where support may overlap — or where gaps exist.
At the centre of this is the voice of children and young people themselves.
We create safe and creative opportunities for young people to share what they are experiencing and what matters to them, and work to ensure those voices reach the people developing and commissioning the services intended to support them.
Children and Young People’s Mental Health Is Changing
Early support, collaboration and listening to children and young people matter. FutureMinds brings young people, VCFSE organisations, services and decision-makers together around a shared ambition: the right help, at the right time.
What FutureMinds Does
Connect
We bring together organisations, services and people working with children and young people across Derbyshire to build relationships and share what they are seeing.
Listen
We create safe, supportive and creative opportunities for children and young people to tell us about their experiences, ideas and priorities.
Collaborate
We encourage organisations, services and young people to share knowledge, identify gaps and explore better ways of working together.
Influence
We help make sure youth voice reaches the people who can act on it — and keep young people informed about what happens as a result.
One Collective - Different Ways to Take Part
FMC: Forum
For organisations and services
Our quarterly Forum brings together VCFSE organisations, children and young people’s services, stakeholders, Public Health and local authority partners from across Derbyshire.
It’s a space to connect, champion good work, share what we’re seeing and work towards our shared goal of getting young people the right help at the right time.
FMC: Youth Forum
For children and young people
A safe and supportive space where young people can share experiences, talk about what matters to them and influence the services and decisions affecting their lives.
Creative activities and workshops give young people different ways to express themselves while developing skills, confidence and opportunities for personal growth.
FMC: Working Group
Turning voices into action
Our Working Group brings together people with influence over children and young people’s resources and services across Derbyshire.
Members have committed to actively listening to CYP voices and using what they hear to help influence decision-making and practical change.
Youth Voice at the Heart
Asking young people what they think is only the beginning.
FutureMinds is committed to keeping children and young people involved in what happens next. We share their voices with organisations and decision-makers, encourage action and feed back what difference their contribution has made.
Not every young person wants to express themselves through meetings, surveys or formal consultation.
FutureMinds uses a creative health approach, providing workshops and safe, supportive spaces where children and young people can explore their experiences through creativity.
These opportunities provide an emotional outlet while giving young people different ways to communicate what mental health, wellbeing and the world around them mean from their perspective.
Making Sure Young People Are Heard.
FutureMinds doesn’t gather young people’s experiences simply to produce reports.
Our relationships with organisations, services, commissioners and strategic partners create opportunities to take what young people tell us into wider conversations about children and young people’s health, wellbeing and support.
By bringing lived experience and professional experience together, we can help identify gaps, challenge assumptions and encourage services to respond to what young people actually need.
Doing Great Work With Children and Young People?
FutureMinds isn’t only about DVA projects. We want to celebrate the organisations, services, activities and ideas supporting children and young people across Derbyshire.
Tell us what you’re doing and help us share and connect great work across the county.
Join organisations from across Derbyshire to connect, collaborate and strengthen the voice of our VCFSE sector.
