Training
Our training helps Derbyshire’s charities, community groups, staff and volunteers build the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive.
From practical workshops to our informal Training & Tea sessions, we create opportunities to learn new skills, share experience and connect with others from across the VCFSE.
Learning That Supports the Sector
Learning That Makes a Difference
Running a charity, community group or social enterprise requires an enormous range of skills — often with limited time, funding and resources.
DVA provides practical learning opportunities designed around the needs of Derbyshire’s VCFSE. From developing organisational skills to exploring new approaches to community engagement, our training helps staff and volunteers gain knowledge they can put into practice.
Just as importantly, our sessions create opportunities to meet others, exchange ideas and learn from the experience already within our sector.

Friendly learning designed for charities, community organisations, staff and volunteers with different levels of experience.

Skills for Stronger Organisations and Communities
Training & Tea is DVA’s relaxed approach to learning, bringing people from across Derbyshire’s VCFSE together to explore useful topics, develop new skills and share ideas.
Sessions are designed to be welcoming and practical, creating space not only to learn from the session leader but also from the knowledge and experience of other organisations in the room.
Our programme changes throughout the year in response to the interests and needs of Derbyshire’s VCFSE.
The best training starts with understanding what organisations actually need.
Our conversations with members, Forums and projects help identify skills, challenges and emerging issues across Derbyshire’s VCFSE and inform the learning opportunities we develop.
If there’s a subject that would help your organisation, we’d like to hear from you.
Could You Deliver a Session?
Some of the best knowledge in Derbyshire already exists within our VCFSE.
If you or your organisation have experience, skills or an approach that could benefit other organisations, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
Working together enables us to share knowledge across the sector and celebrate the expertise already within our communities.
