Supporting Smokefree Derbyshire by 2030
Why Smokefree Spaces Matter
Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in Derbyshire, contributing to around 1,000 deaths every year.
Smokefree spaces help:
Protect children and young people
Reduce exposure to second-hand smoke
Encourage healthier communities
Support people to quit smoking
This funding supports trusted local organisations to create positive community change.
What is a Smokefree Space?
To receive funding, organisations must commit to creating a 100% smokefree environment across all indoor and outdoor areas:
No smoking anywhere on site
Smokefree signage displayed across the premises
Smoking areas and ashtrays removed
Staff, volunteers and visitors made aware of the smokefree policy
Smokefree does not automatically mean vape free. However, organisations hosting family events or activities involving children and young people are encouraged to consider becoming vape free as well.
Applications Open now until Friday 26th June
